Despite dreadful predictions about weather in Ithaca, this week was actually one of the prettiest, sunniest, least gray weeks in a while. It was also a pretty hectic week for me, so I didn’t get out and take advantage of it quite as much as I would have liked. I did, however, discover a very cute little park where I took all of this weeks pictures. Unfortunately, I have a much harder time getting excited about pictures once it gets really gray out and things are headed that way. Do any other photographers have tips for taking good pictures even once the light outdoors gets dull and gray for the winter?

A squirrel, a flower, and a motorcycle? What do these three things have in common? They’re all pictures I took on the Cornell campus this week 🙂 And while going to a new yoga class, I discovered we also have a waterfall right in the middle of campus. There’s definitely enough material on campus alone to keep me busy taking pictures every sunny day we have!
Title: Just Add Water
Author: Lauren Chattman
Review Summary: Nothing special about the book and the recipe I tried was proof that sometimes just adding water isn’t enough.
Like the slow cooker cook book, this was a book I picked up because it contains a lot of quick recipes requiring few ingredients. It also made the claim that any one who can boil water could make these recipes and let me tell you – I boil a mean pot of water.
Title: Sensational Slow Cooker Gourmet
Author: Judith Finlayson
Review Summary: Very focused on convenience and does a good job of spelling everything out – plus it finally got me to use my crock pot.
This book of slow cooker recipes was a great fit for my busy schedule and most recipes don’t look like they’d be too pricey for my poor college student budget either 🙂 In fact, the recipe I made cost me less than $20 for ingredients and will probably make at least 6 meals. But before we get into the recipe, lets start with the book…
Today, I got the most wonderful package in the mail. My boyfriend sent me flowers! Daisies are my favorites and I love the cute little blue mason jar they came in too. I’ll have to find something clever and crafty to do with it later. Or just occasionally add new flowers 🙂
Not too much to report this week. Just some pictures I took at my local library while desperately resisting checking out any more books. It shouldn’t have been hard, since I don’t think I’ll finish all the ones I have now before I move, but somehow it still was! What I most wanted to check out was some more Meg Cabot books, since I’ve been reading the books of hers that I’ve bought for a signing in Des Moines on Tuesday. I’ve never been to a book signing before so I’m super excited, especially since I’ve enjoyed her books a lot. I hope everyone else had a great fourth of july and also has a great week to look forward too 🙂
