This week I’m still going through the many pictures I took during my lab social events last week. These ones were all taken at Taughannock Falls where we all had a wonderful time grilling out, relaxing by the lake, and going on a brief hike up to the falls. I was very excited about the snake picture, since I’m rarely somewhere that I get to see snakes. It makes me think I should really get out to the many nearby parks more often so I might stumble on some more wildlife photography opportunities.

About a year ago, my professor changed universities and this week we had all the lab members who stayed behind out to visit. It was incredibly busy and kind of stressful because we had to do ALL of the things while they were here, but it was also a lot of fun and very productive! It was fun to see people and great to bounce ideas of each other. In addition to catching up on everyone else’s research, we also spent some time doing fun things like hiking (while unofficially brainstorming) which gave me a lot of great photo opportunities this week. The above pictures are taken at Treman Park and Grisamore Farms, where we went cherry picking.

Phew, things are finally slowing done from the rush of moving followed by midterms and projects due. Definitely planning on getting out and taking some more pictures today and hoping next week I’ll be out taking pictures a lot. These are some flowers the boy got me and I really enjoyed taking pictures of them. I think I want to try doing more still life images, because I liked being able to move everything to get the best shot, but also found it challenging and think I could have taken advantage of that more. So practice is definitely in order 🙂

Although I’ve been in the middle of moving to a new apartment the past few days, the middle of our move turned out to be the perfect time to get pictures of Maggie. She’s been a little perturbed by the move and has spent a lot of her time hiding out on top of the cupboards above the fridge. That hasn’t made her any less curious though! She’s gotten into absolutely everything in our new apartment (including the cupboard she’s sleeping in for two of the above pictures) and has looked out every window. I think once she relaxes, she’ll end up liking our new apartment a lot.

This week I’m still getting caught up on editing some of my pictures from Christmas break. Visiting my boyfriend’s brother and sister-in-law, I had a lot of fun taking pictures of geese and ducks from their apartment. We also tried to get some squirrel pictures, but they were just too speedy! I’m still loving shooting RAW – the lighting adjustments you can make are just incredible. I hope everyone else is preparing for an exciting weekend and that you’re enjoying your Friday!

This week I didn’t get out much, but we did have one beautiful sunny day. This is a bench in a garden maintained by a plant path professor, which is one of the prettiest places on campus 🙂
