Happy Friday everyone!

This week went by incredibly quickly and was so productive! Which made it extra fun to have friends over last night, since I’d done enough work to feel very good about relaxing. Having people over right after work did keep me from posting yesterday though and I think this could happen at least monthly, so I’m hoping to get as ahead on my photography as I am on reading soon. Being able to do review posts in advance has been wonderful and it would be nice to do that with my photography posts too.
Today’s post is part of yet another skirmish in the ongoing war I’m waging against my past tendency to keep all of the pictures. I’m so very bad at sorting through old pictures after I’ve picked each week’s photos for the blog! So whenever I don’t make it out to take some pictures in a week, I’m sharing some of my older pictures and trying to delete the ones I have to admit I’ll never use. Do you have a system that works for you for organizing your pictures? If so, I’d love to hear about it 🙂
Flowers! The two purple flowers are pictures I took while on campus this week and the pink one is from my trip to the sheep shearing last week. Lately I’ve really liked when I find a repetitive motif in nature, like the purple flowers, and I really wanted the other flowers in the background. Unfortunately, looking directly into the flower bed the only nice looking flowers were too tall and you could see out into the road behind them. Finally, I realized I could take a picture looking parallel to the front of the flower bed. I don’t always compose my pictures quite that deliberately, so I was excited to make that one work 🙂
Do you usually compose your pictures instinctively based on what looks good as you shoot? Or are you more likely to have a particular shot in your head that you’re trying to replicate with the camera?
Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to a sheep shearing, mostly because I wanted to get pictures of adorable sheep! The event itself wasn’t the most exciting, because once you’ve seen one sheep sheared, that’s really enough. But it was beautiful weather and getting pictures was a lot of fun, so we had a good time.
I’d also like to mention today that I’m starting to participate in the Saturday Snapshot link up. Although I like doing fiction on weekends and prefer to continue to post on Friday, I will include a link back to the meme each week so you can join in and visit other participants if you like. Here’s the a link to the host’s blog.
