Hello all and happy Friday! To wrap up the year, this week’s photography Friday includes a random sampling of pictures I like but didn’t post earlier in the year. I’m now back in New York after visiting my family and my boyfriend’s family over break. Doing both definitely kept us busy (on top of catching the flu!) but we had a really good time anyway and enjoyed seeing everyone. I hope you all had a great holiday too!

Today I realized something you may have noticed already – I think I’ve become something of a nature photographer. It just seems to be the subject which most catches my fancy these days 🙂 This pictures were taken today on the ISU campus, but I’m hoping to get back ahead soon so that each week I can take pictures for next Friday’s photography post. I know a lot of my readers are fellow bloggers, so I’m curious – how far in advance do most of you schedule posts?

Not too much to report this week.  Just some pictures I took at my local library while desperately resisting checking out any more books.  It shouldn’t have been hard, since I don’t think I’ll finish all the ones I have now before I move, but somehow it still was! What I most wanted to check out was some more Meg Cabot books, since I’ve been reading the books of hers that I’ve bought for a signing in Des Moines on Tuesday.  I’ve never been to a book signing before so I’m super excited, especially since I’ve enjoyed her books a lot.  I hope everyone else had a great fourth of july and also has a great week to look forward too 🙂

Photography Friday
This past weekend was my second weekend having guests – first the boy two weekends ago and then my sister and her friend last weekend – which has been a lot of fun and also kept me very busy! Â Exercising has pretty much not happened and getting work done has been challenging, so I’m happy to get back into my routine. Â I will miss getting to go do fun touristy things in Ames with my guests though. Â These pictures are from the botanical garden, which was one of my favorite things we did (perhaps after the awesome chocolate store we visited). Â I had a particularly nice time because my sister and I both enjoyed taking our time and trying to get some really good pictures. Â What do you usually enjoy doing with family when they visit?

This past week, I got to visit with the boy for the first time in almost two months! Â Since we usually visit once a month, it felt like it had been forever. Â So we had a great time with our visit, including a fun trip to the Des Moines Zoo. Â I was also using my 55-250mm lens for only the second time (the first time was for the parade pictures last week) and the zoom was fantastic! Â I do hate it a little that it becomes physically impossible for me to take pictures of anything too close, but I also think it’s a fun challenge to make all my pictures work without changing lenses. Â I’ll definitely be using it more often!

Photography Friday
Although my post is quite late in the day, I actually took this picture very early this morning.  I got to campus shortly after 9 (alright, very early for me :-P) and everything was beautiful, sparkly and coated in snow.  I’ve been thinking about trying to get a nice silhouette of these plants for a while and as soon as I saw how pretty the campus was, I knew this was the day. I wasn’t a huge fan of the lens flare I ended up with, but the pictures without just didn’t do justice to the snow on the plants.
