Photography Friday

Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to a sheep shearing, mostly because I wanted to get pictures of adorable sheep! The event itself wasn’t the most exciting, because once you’ve seen one sheep sheared, that’s really enough. But it was beautiful weather and getting pictures was a lot of fun, so we had a good time.

I’d also like to mention today that I’m starting to participate in the Saturday Snapshot link up. Photography Friday

Although the name “Photography Friday” has become less accurate lately, I am excited to at last have gotten out to take pictures this week.  With getting ready to move to Ithaca at the end of July, I’ve already started putting in extra time trying to finish things up here before I leave.  But today the weather was beautiful and I didn’t have much work to do, so I just wandered around my apartment complex and enjoyed taking some nature pictures.  I hope everyone else is having a relaxing weekend too 🙂

Photography Friday

This week’s pictures are from my trip to Dallas for a conference. I chose to go to a conference that was a broad overview of the field of bioinformatics and as I, and the rest of the students who went, discovered what this really meant was two and a half days of talks most of which weren’t directly related to what we were doing.  That’s a lot of talks to sit through when they’re not topics relevant to you!  And while there are some legendary conferences where half the point is for professors to have fun traveling and get drunk after the conference, this was not one of those conferences. So these pictures are from what ended up being my favorite part of the trip – a visit to an art museum and a statuary garden with my roommate, who was wonderfully patient while I took forever taking pictures of ducks 🙂

Photography Friday

Although I usually make a conscious effort not to have my weekly picture be of my cat (because otherwise they all would be!) this week I just couldn’t resist.  Maggie has just been so adventurous this week: climbing to the top of my fridge; making wild leaps into the top drawer of my dresser; and sleeping in all sorts of crazy places, like my dirty clothes hamper and the box she’s enjoying in the picture above.  Here I caught her sleeping on her back and then watching me try to get a bright enough picture.  I think she was laughing at me!
