Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to a sheep shearing, mostly because I wanted to get pictures of adorable sheep! The event itself wasn’t the most exciting, because once you’ve seen one sheep sheared, that’s really enough. But it was beautiful weather and getting pictures was a lot of fun, so we had a good time.
I’d also like to mention today that I’m starting to participate in the Saturday Snapshot link up. Although I like doing fiction on weekends and prefer to continue to post on Friday, I will include a link back to the meme each week so you can join in and visit other participants if you like. Here’s the a link to the host’s blog.

Although I’ve been in the middle of moving to a new apartment the past few days, the middle of our move turned out to be the perfect time to get pictures of Maggie. She’s been a little perturbed by the move and has spent a lot of her time hiding out on top of the cupboards above the fridge. That hasn’t made her any less curious though! She’s gotten into absolutely everything in our new apartment (including the cupboard she’s sleeping in for two of the above pictures) and has looked out every window. I think once she relaxes, she’ll end up liking our new apartment a lot.

I’m having a little trouble doing blog-y things this weekend, since my boyfriend and I have friends from undergraduate visiting. However, I did get a chance this last week to try using my new lens to get some pictures of my cat and it worked beautifully. She almost always runs away as soon as I get out my camera, but the smaller lens seemed to bother her less. And in the picture where she’s upside down, she was distracted by the speaker phone. The boy was driving home and I put him on speaker phone. My cat, Maggie, was immediately interested. She circled the phone sideways so she could keep facing it, before getting up the courage to poke it with a paw. Then she went to lay down, but I think she still wanted to keep an eye on the phone, thus the upside down pose 🙂

I’ve been trying to get a good squirrel picture for at least two weeks and, as Murphy’s Law of photography dictates, every time I didn’t have my camera, I ran into squirrel. Whenever I had my camera, it was annoying to be carrying it and there were no squirrels around. But today, at last, the squirrel and the camera were in the same place! At the same time! I was very excited to get some good pictures, not just because I love squirrel pictures (although they are pretty adorable!) but also because I wanted three pictures to put on a mug I’m making or my boyfriend for Christmas. So time was running out on that one and I was really glad to get these pictures today 🙂

As promised, here is this week’s Photography Friday, complete with adorable goats and beautiful horses. The blog may not be running with German precision (which, Top Gear informs me, is the best sort of precision) while I adjust to spending hours on homework again, but everything will still get done 🙂 In the mean time, let’s remember better days, just two weeks ago, when instead of spending my weekend programming, I spent it visiting the Lively Run Goat Dairy open house.
There was a cheese tasting, including their plain chevre and a couple of blue cheeses, as well as a tour of the goat barn where the dairy goat in the picture seemed confused about the edibility of my fingers! I also got to pet the horse in the picture, although he had such a knack for running away as soon as my camera was out, that I had to use my zoom lens to get the picture above. Although we didn’t get to see cheese being made, I had a good time and can’t wait for the next time local dairies have an open house day.
