August Snail Mail Collective

snail-mail-button-293This past weekend, I was very excited to get an intriguingly shaped package in the mail from my Snail Mail Collective penpal! This month I was paired with Laura of The Pink Herbivore. From exchanging e-mails and perusing her blog, I soon learned that Laura lives in Kansas and is married with a beautiful baby girl named Lisanna. She’s also great at crafts and has started a new blog feature called 5 Minute Fancies that seems perfect for those of us who would like to do crafts but don’t have a lot of time. One thing we had in common is that we’d both like to teach, although very different age students (she’s going to teach elementary school, while I’m planning on being a college professor). So, on to the wonderful Kansas-themed package Laura sent…

Check these out! I love, love, love that the mug is homemade, personalized, and Kansas-related. It’s so big and so cute, I can’t wait to snuggle up on the couch in the winter and drink some hot chocolate in it ๐Ÿ™‚ ย I’m also excited to try the coffee. I don’t drink coffee a lot but I adore the smell, so I’m going to try it out and if I don’t like it, I’ll make my boyfriend drink it so I can breathe it in, haha.ย ย I also liked learning that in Kansas people drink coffee or tea together, sometimes while visiting coffee shops, for fun because there isn’t much else to do. My hometown of Findlay OH is the same way and I still visit George House coffee shop with friends whenever we’re all back in town. Apparently the place to go to buy your own coffee and tea in Wichita, KS is The Spice Merchant and I am quite excited to see what the coffee is like. Thanks Laura! You were an awesome pen pal and this gift was the best! I can’t wait until next month (which you can still sign up for here).

  1. The mug is adorable! I need to look into this Snail Mail Collective, it sounds like so much fun!

  2. Yay! I’m glad you like it. I was a little nervous about the coffee thing because I know a lot of people don’t like it, but I’m glad you at least enjoy the smell and you can share. =] I got yours, too, and it’s awesome. I’ll be posting about it Saturday. Thanks for being my penpal! =]

    • Despite e-mailing back and forth a few times, I still found it challenging to pick out something I thought you were most likely to like. I was trying to think if there are questions I should ask my penpal this coming month to make it easier, but haven’t come up with anything yet. I love the gift you picked out and the coffee will definitely be put to good use ๐Ÿ™‚ I enjoyed being your penpal and appreciate you taking the time to be my penpal too ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. How fun! I can’t keep up with mailing birthday cards to nieces and nephews lately so I admire you all for your penpal perfection!

    • I’m starting to do better at sending birthday cards, but I’m not always the best at that either! I have been having a lot of fun writing letters and it surprised me how easy that made it to stay on top of things ๐Ÿ™‚
