The Monster Reviewathon
Aug 26th-Sept 1st
I only found out about The Monster Reviewathon today, but I think it’s exactly what I needed! I’ve been ahead on reading and behind on writing a review for a while, a problem that the recent read-a-thon only increased. So for the next week, I will have to keep reading for some scheduled reviews coming up, but I’m going to try to do a lot of catching up on reviews. (Goal: review 10 books).

Classics Retold
September

As I discussed in my Monday Musing, I love re-tellings, so I was incredibly excited to find the Classics Retold event going on this September. Each blogger picks a classic from one of five categories and reads both the original and three modern adaptations. I’m doing The Count of Monte Cristo and I can’t wait to get started! I’ve always loved the movie and I’m sure the book will be even better.
September Read-a-Longs

I haven’t ever done a read-a-long before because I’ve been dubious about the idea of reading a book on a schedule. I’m not sure I’ll like not being able to just keep going once I get started! However, I’ve really gotten into the social aspects of blogging lately and two read-a-longs were happening for books I’ve been interested in, so I decided to give it a go. The first is a read-a-long of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead hosted by Allison at The Book Wheel. The second is a read-a-long of The Book Thief hosted by Suey at It’s All About Books. Let me know if you’re joining in!

  1. I just discovered the review-a-thon as well. Sounds like you’re as far behind with writing reviews as I am! This is a fun way to catch up. And The Book Thief is an amazing book. Enjoy!

  2. Good luck with the review-a-thon! I’m also participating.

  3. Lots of fun going on! Thanks for joining the reviewathon! 10 books is a great goal. I have finished one today (yay!) and have 5 more pending, but am almost done with two more books. Hope you reach your goal this week!

    • I don’t know if I can do ten or not, but I figure if I do one each day during the week and fit five in during the weekend, that could be reasonable 🙂 Good luck getting yours done too!

  4. I signed up for The Book Thief read-along, too!!!

I hadn’t heard of the review-a-thon until now, but that’s such a good idea! At this point, though, I think I’m just not going to review some of the reviews I had been planning on. Or I might just put together a post of mini-reviews.

  5. Cool, I could use a reviewathon! I don’t know that this week is a very good time for me… I can’t seem to be motivated to write, but I hope it’s helpful for you! I love that book bloggers organize all of these cool events.

    • I’m not sure there’s ever a good week for these big blogging events, haha. But I’m also really glad people organize them since I’ve had a lot of fun with all of the ones I’ve done 🙂

  6. Thanks for giving the read along a try! We are going to have a blast. It’s okay if you read it ahead and faster than the schedule, you can still discuss with us! Ah, I’m so excited to get started!

    • Thanks Suey 🙂 I think I’ll try to read on schedule so I can always remember what’s being discussed each week, but I appreciate that it’s not a problem if I get ahead. I’m excited to get started too!

  7. I’m cohosting the Lean In book club (Allison and I switch off whose blog it’s hosted on each time) so I’m obviously participating in that one! And I’m also participating in The Book Thief with Suey & friends since it’s a good opportunity to read that book! Thanks for the post with all of the events. They can be so hard to keep track of sometimes!
