I really love the idea of fairy tale retellings. They're so much fun to read! When I started thinking about it, I realized I haven't actually read many of the original fairy tales. Project Fairy Tale is a month long project being run by Alison at The Cheap Reader. A bunch of re-telling aficionados have gotten together and each picked a fairy tale for which they'll read the original and at least three re-tellings this month. I'm doing Robin Hood :) You can check out the list below for more details and links to the other bloggers involved.

  2. This sounds fun! I hope you find some great adaptations.

  3. So interesting! I am currently reading a collection of Grimm’s fairy tales, and realize that with a lot of the tales, i remember some key scenes, but not the real narrative. By the way, maybe this is interesting for you, too, about fairy tales: there’s a literary online course which started some days ago at Coursera, and their first week is dedicated to fairy tales. here’s my blog post on my fairy reads, with lit link included: 4 reads: desert books & fairy tales

    • Thanks for sharing the Coursera info :) I love re-tellings, but I am also excited to learn more about the originals since I’ve often heard that the Disney versions are nothing like the Brothers Grimm!
