This week the Monday Musings question from Should Be Reading is the following: Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
I most recently bought myself Born Wicked. For the most part, I don’t buy books and prefer to use the library. However, one thing that will get me to buy a book every time is the chance to get it signed. When I won a signed sticker from Jessica Spotswood, I couldn’t resist buying Born Wicked since it had been on my to-read list for some time anyway. Do you more often buy books or go to the library? What makes you decide you have to own a book instead of just borrowing it?

I haven’t read that book, but that’s awesome you have a signed sticker! I wouldv’e bought the book, too, in that case. =)
I am an equal opportunity reader… I check various places and figure out the best deal that fits my needs. My library is one of the places I check for digital copies, but the selection is somewhat limited for Kindle. If I could stomach audiobooks, it would be much better. But if the library doesn’t have a copy, I figure out where and in what format I’ll buy it from. =)
Happy Monday! Here’s my MM: http://meganm922.blogspot.com/2013/01/musing-mondaysrecent-purchases.html

My library doesn’t have a ton of kindle books yet either, but hopefully that will improve
Great question! I go to the library whenever I can; I save my money to buy the books by my favorite authors, so I know I’ll definitely love them! I like how you said you’ll buy signed books too, I love it when I can get those!

I agree – it’s much nicer to spend money on books you know you’ll like. Unless I really love everything by an author, I usually library first and buy later
I can no longer read real books anymore because of my eyesite but I will be a hard copy if I can get it signed and I will by both the ebook and the hard copy if it is part of my collection (like the Robert Jordan one I am going to pick up soon)
Now it does not help that I am addicted to Kindle free books!
MUSING MONDAY
I’m so glad ebooks make it easier for people to read; I know my mom likes how large she can make the font on hers. Oh for a book signed by Robert Jordan! I don’t know if I’d be quite as excited to have one without being able to meet him to get it, but it would still be pretty awesome
I’m a library girl too – I have access to a fantastic library system. But I do buy books from time to time – usually impulse buy or a book that my library doesn’t have but that I really want to read.
I’ve been very impressed by my local library system too. I love how easy it is to get good books
I have always dreamed of having a library in my home and since I worked as a bookbuyer at one time I was able to get plenty of books for free from the reps or bought at a discount. There is nothing like the smell and feel of a book that has never been opened and seeing the books all lined up in my shelves. Although I had a good start in turning my den into a library, finances and lack of room had me scale back, giving many of my books away keeping only a few (although I still have more than enough!) so that my den is a just den. I enjoy both, buying new books from favorite authors and visiting my library. I had come to the conclusion that I do have a library it is about a mile down the road and have thousands of books at my finger tips and is FREE! These days that is the perfect price!! LOL
I also started narrowing down the number of books I own for space reasons, after a move, but still buy a few. The library is definitely my favorite place to get books though
Don’t you just love the smell of a library!
I do! And used book stores too
I love to buy books when I can – I get quite a few from the op-shops. I use the library sometimes. Here’s what I’m reading: http://daystarz.wordpress.com/2013/01/14/musing-monday/
I definitely enjoy my books I own, but I’m trying not to buy because I think I could end up buying too many very easily, haha. I’ve never heard of an op-shop though; is that short for something?
I think it’s short for opportunity shop? It’s a thrift shop – where they sell used goods
I wondered if it was a used book store
Thanks for clarifying!
